Okay, here's the latest! The book came back from editing and it's been sent on to my sophisticated publisher and we're eying May 1 as a release date. I'm told my next step is, once the book is in e-format, is to give away a few advanced copies through Goodreads. From there, my sophisticated publisher performs a miracle that results in the hard copy being available as well.
Tull fans may wish to note the holiday of Beltane was selected for a release date, which also happens to be my mother's birthday.
The countdown begins!

Will the book be any different from the story ? The story is excellent as it is.

Yes, there were revisions and added content as well as fixes. It will still be the same essential story, just improved.

Very much improved. I seen an edit copy of this story last year. Makes it a crime to read the online version.

Wayward Son will be on Amazon by May 1st, it may open up to pre-order soon. The paperback will come later this year. As soon as the final details are in stone, I'll release links and cover art. Watch this space!

Are there plans for an epub version of the book? I usually try to buy from B&N or other retailers rather than Amazon. (I just like to help the underdogs, Besides I feel like Jeff Bezos is on track to take over the world .) If there's not I may wait till there's a dead tree book. Besides, I try to avoid DRM as much as possible, (I know, B&N does it too,) and so far you can't apply DRM to a dead tree book. John

With Amazon I am locked into a 90 day window. We will release the paperback with them, but once August hits and the ending of that 90 day window, then other formats will be come available.

I am glad to hear that. I like to be able to order through my local bookstore here in my home town when possible.
When might the paperback version be available, through Amazon or other retailers?

August or there about's if memory serves. I would rather have printed matter since I'm not technologically ready. The only reason I have a Kindle thing on my computer is because of the book I got for writing MD along with Beagle and several others. I do have the paper book too which Beagle signed when I signed his.

My guru is putting the paperback into order and it will get uploaded through Amazon's 'Create Space' first, as I can start there inside that 90 day window - that's assuming it's ready before August. BY August I'm planning to release it through other outlets, we'll see exactly how. I don't know if, by making it on Create Space if it will only be available on Amazon or if it's open to other booksellers (my guess is that it it snot) and I'll need other outlets fro print on demand, I'm guessing.

Sometimes Create Space books are available in other venues. I ordered a Create Space book through Books-A-Million through my local store, and could have ordered it online from them. I will probably do that with this book as well, or might break down and get a Kindle App for my computer.
I am told that sometimes authors actually get a higher royalty from Kindle books than from sales of physical books. Do you know if this is true in your case?
The advantage of a physical book is that it is not subject to power loss, computer crash, batteries, etc.

I understand completely. I do enjoy my physical books and I haven't stopped getting them. One thing that annoys me about ebooks as compared to physical ones is that you see that you are getting closer to the end. Nothing annoys me more than getting to the end of an ebook, unexpectedly.
I don't know about that with respect to royalties. I went into this knowing it wouldn't be a bestseller or anything and I certainly won't retire on its sales! But, with three five star reviews, I do feel pretty good. I will have to do some promotions when the physical copies are getting ready to be released, so we'll see what happens at that point.
