I'm glad you're enjoying the story! I hope the wait won't be too long. I know I am famous for some of my cliffhangers (Or at least, that's what a few people have told me through email), but I guess it's difficult to put up with as a reader, eh? Unfortunately though, Dave is right, I won't let him post it all at once. One of the perks my Patrons get through Patreon is an early release of chapters. It wouldn't be fair to them if I were to suddenly begin releasing the chapters quicker here (Though i suppose I could always double their rate of release as well. ).

Patience, fellow readers, Patience. Something that is under appreciated in this modern world. ....... I am reminded of a saying in my family passed down by grandma:
Patience is a Virtue Virtue is a Grace Grace is a pussycat With a long solemn face.

I don't know how I missed responding to this before, but . . . What a beautiful saying! Too bad it's true, eh? I hope you all enjoyed chapter 9. This is just getting started.

I think you should show them your inspiration for Dante. That should bring inspiration to them as well. :-)

The earlier discussion about the posting of stories either as a whole or as parts reminded me of a bit of doggerel I penned for a similar discussion elsewhere but never posted:
A Tale in Many Parts
A recommended story new I found and read parts one and two Posted soon was section three So I read on with avid glee. Delayed a month was chapter four So re-read all that’s gone before. Another wait ‘ere chapter five Is showing on the board as live. But ‘cos my memory is poor I go back over one to four. A quarter later: six and seven Does this really look like heaven? As for my interest to revive I must review parts up to five. And so to wait for chapter eight By Christmas it is very late. Easter comes and chapter nine Is still not posted up on line. A year goes past and only then A chance of seeing chapter ten And as I’ve gone and lost the thread I must revisit all I’ve read. The author uses all he’s got But now we see he’s lost the plot And so with sadness I contend We’ll surely never see the end! ----------------------------------------------------- Please note this is not meant to slight Those who post upon this site!

Samuel, I am enjoying The Cup of the Worthless. The interweaving of the different threads is done masterfully, and questions are gradually (sometimes more quickly) being answered.
Pedro, I like the poem related to long delayed story continuations. As I get older, I appreciate more and more Dave's current policy of not posting a serial until it is complete and all episodes/chapters delivered to him. (Timmy on IOMfAtS.org has an almost identical policy). I am reading one author who has 73 chapters posted on three different websites, but his current posting rate is about 3 or 4 chapters a year. That is frustrating. (It is being done in four-person narration, with one narrator per chapter, with little review of previous chapters, and is a great story, At first the chapters were about 4 days apart, then a week apart, then two weeks, then a month, and now about 4 times a year.
Dave, thanks for not doing things this way. Cynus, Gee, Mark Peters, and others, thanks for COMPLETING stories and then sending them to Dave.
And Samuel, thanks for writing the stories you write.

Well, at least I can promise that it will continue to release at a chapter a week until it's completed, and it won't take a year. A beautiful poem, though.

I'm glad you're enjoying the story. It is, by far, what I consider to be the best thing I've written from a technical standpoint at least. SOme of the later chapters, such as the first half of Chapter 17, had a profound effect on me while I was writing them, and I hope that translates into the work. I'm working on something now which is so demanding on me emotionally it may end up taking that first place slot, but we'll see what happens. Right now, I'm struggling just to complete chapter 3 . . . Hopefully, however long it will be, it will be done when Cup of the Worthless finishes posting.

I've actually seen that actor a few times and thought he was cute, then. It's nice to know I'm consistent. He is pretty dapper, though, and my favorite character by far.

Just finished Chapter 19 on this site. Over the next three days, I am going to have to (as time permits) re-read the first 18 chapters of this great story. (My phone tends to mess up email, so can only read that at home.)
I am reminded of wheels, gears, and levers, as scenes and people shift for new situations as necessary. Samuel, well done.

I am greatly anticipating your thoughts at the conclusion, Paul. Those who have finished it are few, considering it's still in serialization, and since this is the novel I have enjoyed writing more than any other so far, I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks. I don't need it to be loved, of course, I'm just aching for feedback on the story as a whole. June 15/16 (somewhere around there) I believe is when the last chapter posts, though I could be wrong.

If you can't wait to find out how it ends, for less than the price of a pint of beer, you can get the story from Amazon(see Cynus' post Mar16). I did and thought it money well spent. It will certainly last you longer than the beer!
