Alex is an awkward lad in an awkward situation. His parents divorced and his step mother is evil-adjacent. His father seems to not want to be lonely, and has settled. Going into summer Alex uncomfortably discovers that his best friends, Annie and Will are a couple - even though Alex had been harboring some hope Will would see him differently. They have less time for Alex and he takes a job at a run-down boardwalk arcade called Wonderland. From here he meets a host of characters from the acerbic owner, the cute Ben who has a girlfriend away on holiday, the stoner behind the ticket counter and more. Over the course of the summer Alex slowly grows out of his social anxiety. Called 'Hilarious and heart-flippingly romantic' by Becky Albertalli, the author of Simon and the Homo-sapiens Agenda which became the movie Love, Simon and the new spin off Love, Victor.
Alex in Wonderland is a fun summer read set in England - read it before the summer is gone!

How about that, I read it about a week ago. Everybody's right, it's delightful.

Just looked this up, that title's been used for at least 11 books, 3 movies, a podcast and an "erotic audible"
Yeah, the Simon Green one seems to the most up my alley as well. Although I'm considering punking my local bookstore by telling them I can't remember the author's name.
