Ariel is a high achiever - he studies late into the night sacrificing sleep to achieve academic perfection. He is determined to be the valedictorian and looks upon his main rival with a ruthless academic eye. Soon the lack of sleep comes at the cost of obligations outside of academics, but then he gets a low mark in calculus and he reaches out to a classmate, Amir, for extra help. As Ariel juggles more and more with less rest, he slowly begins to realize the situation is untenable. With great representation of both Jewish and Middle-Eastern characters and an excellent view into competitive academics and the pressure kids feel to succeed, this is a great read.
