Not GLH, but I did take that advice, proactively, about 35 years ago, when I still lived in Minnesota. It was an early spring day, so still lots of snow on the ground, and I was walking on the sidewalk next to a grocery store parking lot (a Lunds in south Minneapolis, back when that was a separate chain). As I crossed the sloped entry I put my uphill foot down on what my peripheral vision identified as asphalt pavement. Not pavement - black ice that had been polished to a mirror finish by cars spinning their wheels to make it up the slight slope into the parking lot. That foot never stopped moving, just changed direction when it hit the ice - it may have been the most spectacular fall most of the onlookers had ever seen. Half a dozen people came up to see if I had survived. (OK, it was Minnesota thirty years ago - they were all checking to see if I needed help.)
Happily, those were the days when I was in the Aikido dojo teaching or practicing five to seven days a week, so when my feet went flying, I just automatically flattened out. Since my feet were flying out to the side, I naturally took all of the impact on the side of my upper body, and my jacket provided more padding than the mats we practiced on at the dojo, so the only injury was to my pride.
Easily the most fabulous fall of my life.
Thanks, for sharing. You caused me to have a "Flash Back." When the Coast Guard changed from "Cracker Jacks" uniforms to the current uniform my Chief traded me (for future considerations) to the Chief in charge of distributing the new uniforms in the First Coast Guard District. Which was basically all of New England area of the Northeast. Seems, thanks to Prior Service Army time, I was the only Coastie in the Boston area that had a Government Motor Vehicle Driver's License and experience to drive a 10-ton box truck. I arrived at a Small Boat Station in Northeastern Maine in a blizzard. I backed the truck up a slight grade to a door to the big Day Room. After getting the power lift tailgate down and opening the back off the truck I stepped of the tailgate and immediately started sliding down the grade and fell backwards. I remember thinking that the dress pants and shoes would get wet in the slushy snow and ice. The Fowl Weather Coat that I had on would be better off in the wet. So, I fell on my back tucked my knees up under my chin and my 6' 4" 230+ pounds self slowly slid the length of the box truck on my back, head pulled to my knees and slowly rotating as I slid until I stopped in a snowbank. I got up dusted the snow off my pants noted that my hat, pants, shoes and sock were dry and was pleased with myself. Then I heard the applause and cheers and cat calls. I looked up and the entire crew, 20 plus people, were looking out the big windows at me. So, I did the only thing I could think off. Jazz Hands and big Bow. The guys at the station nicknamed me Baby Huey.

Many years ago, I worked for a short time in the electrical department of a large organization. Two of us were assigned to change out burned light bulbs all over the buildings, grounds, and the 110 foot radio tower.
One day, I needed to get more supplies, and rode to the organization's warehouse with a guy in the plumbing shop next door. We signed for our stuff, and I noticed that, though his name tag said Dick, and everyone called him that, he signed the invoice "Roy X****."
I asked him, "Dick, why did you sign that as 'Roy?'"
His reply: "When I was little, my three much older brothers sometimes had to change my diaper. Almost every time they did, I would have a hard on. They started calling me 'Dick' and the name stuck. But my legal first name is Roy."

I just sold my Homing Pigeon on EBAY for the 22nd time.
Is the next picture ironic, or is it just me?

Do you know the difference between a Hippo and a Zippo? One is quite heavy and the other is a little lighter.

I’m pretty sure I only need one more bad decision and then I’ll own the whole set.

A Christmas Joke:
A friend turned up at a Christmas fancy dress party with a pair of knickers on their head. When berated for seemingly not joining in, and asked as to the point of the knickers, they replied 'they're Carols'!

Did you know that the Latin root of “mortgage” means “Death Pledge"? Just something to fun to think about when you’re paying bills.
