Thanks for a great read.
So many things covered. Wow. I don't want to give anything away so I'll bite my lip, but wow, Micah, Devin, Dom, Carlos, Reece, Leo!
Favorite sentence "“Chicken out? What was I supposed to be afraid of? I knew you'd brushed.”"
So many deep pithy comments on the characters lives and real world life observations in general. Sadly, I have to agree with the Kutsenko's concerns for life in our kids futures.
Personal flashback caused by "looking for a black cat in a light-less warehouse." My dad's saying "Looking for a black cat eating licorice in a coal bin on a moonless midnight." A mouthful for sure and not many people remember when homes had coal bins for the coal for their furnace. We had an oil conversion furnace but the neighbors had a coal furnace.
Neighbor to the left (with kids I was friends with) kept ahead of the smoke and soot and I never noticed any major difference between the inside of their house and mine. Neighbor to the right that I had little to do with, was another story. I was inside their house once and EVERYTHING inside was shades of black and dark gray. Running that errand there for my mother had a profound impact on my 10 year old self. I never went inside that house again.
The truck that delivered the coal was what fascinated me and I remember most. It seemed to take forever for the guy to get all the chutes connected before he lifted the dump body.
I use to wait just to see them raise the dump. There was 5 to 7 tons of coal in the dump body. The dump body wobbled side to side and back and forth and looked like it would fall over, but it never did.

What a lovely near-Thanksgiving visit with so many of the old friends! And some drama and shenanigans!
And Chase with some moral backbone (as he has always had, but he doesn't flex very often) !

It was nice to see the family make a big deal for Micah on his birthday. If anyone deserves it, he does. I'm a little ambivalent about Kale and Chase bringing up the poly thing again. It's not something I think I could ever be a part of in my own relationship, but, to each his own. Just because it isn't for me, doesn't mean it wouldn't work for others. I'm curious to find out what Alec's real reason is for wanting to put a halt to it.
Enjoyed the reminiscing of Alec's parents on their drive back to the Springs. I had to chuckle a few times when Doug kept coming back to his broken furniture! Funny stuff.
On the last segment, I was a little lost because I honestly don't remember much about Leo and Reese. Usually when a character comes up that I can't remember too well, I go back and look at where they were first introduced but I couldn't really find it. I sort of remember the names coming up earlier, but I really need to refresh my memory on them and their part in the story. Any hints as to when they first made their appearance?

Leo first appeared in "Drafted" as the narrator. Reece was his buddy.

Leo was introduced in Drafted as a buddy to Micah, even though he's older than everyone's favorite Angel with Horns. Reece was Leo's best friend and enjoys verbal sparring with Alec periodically.
An update on Devyn has been one of the more requested items, but I didn't see a way to make a complete story about just this experience. Once we reach the holidays in the time line, we should see him get a chance to try speaking to everyone. I think Griff will cry and I think Devyn should prank call Nate, right? Right? Is this thing on?

Is this thing on? Oh Hell yes. Devyn should call Nate and some others not in Albany. I'm not sure how closely his parents are following his recovery so I can't guess if they would be surprised or not. Nate should definitely get a call due to his previous interactions with Devyn.
I hope that during holiday events we'll get updates on Nate and Elliot. Jamie and Boomer status would be nice too. Oh and Nik, Mat and Phillip hopefully are doing well.

Oh! I forgot in my last post...YAY, Devyn! Exactly! I hope his plan works. I really liked the Devyn/Micah scene. I really like the personal growth Micah is displaying. The bus stop scene was great too.

I'm considering something very, very different for me to address the whole Jamie/Boomer/Emily situation. I'm talking to someone for perspective first.

I'm curious to find out what Alec's real reason is for wanting to put a halt to it. I think a poly relationship would be hard. Two people is difficult enough. One reason things went this way is because there are many, many standard relationships in the SS universe - or across my collective writing. Trying something new held an appeal, and I think things happen in the real world that go on for a time and work themselves out - or fail. Such as the 'thruple' that was Logan/Seth/Grayson. I think the way that relationship failed and formed into something else was realistic. I also think at the end of the day Alec and Kale have things that are fundamentally different about each other that make their relationship more difficult. Finances is a big reason why couples fight. People who come from money without having earned it frequently 'don't know the value of a dollar'. There would also be larger questions that may be more mundane yet would need addressing. For instance, when Linc asks why he has to go to church and Micah gets to sleep in? The big questions about things like religion would get very different answers from both Kale and Alec, or even Chase and Sasha, which can be quite problematic in a two-person relationship let alone four. Eventually they will have to figure things out, but reality has to rise up somewhere.

I'm not a fan of Emily and I hope that Boomer and Garret won't be impacted by what ever you gin up. I'm looking forward to what ever you write. As I've noted elsewhere I'm constantly risk accessing. IF Jamie were to get into politics this history could bite him in the butt if the tabloids found out. That's not even considering ramifications if "The Family" figures them out. Good luck with the story.

I'll second mattyboy's post earlier about this story. Really enjoyable getting back to what I consider to be some of the main characters.
Did think the Devyn 'reveal' was a bit of a waste, although the way it came about was well crafted.

Is this thing on? Has anyone other than Nate heard Devyn speak before? Robin, perhaps? I really like the fine texture you're developing with Micah's moral development. He's not facing burning-building ticking-bomb hero stuff, it's ordinary life stuff like unwinding awkward situations without making them even more awkward.

It's possible Robin heard him, but it's never been referenced. Even if he had they weren't really acquainted until later.

NICE TO HAVE MICAH HEAR DEVYN FIRST THE WAY HE DID, MORE FUN FOR US TO BE AWARE AS DEVYN REVEALS IT LATER DURING THEIR HOLIDAY PARTY, CALLING NATE MIGHT BE FUN TOO. I WANT GARRET AND STERLING TO WORK OUT. EMILY AND JAMIE SEEM TO BE GOOD. BUT THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING FOR JAMIE TO WORK OUT WITH HIS IDENTITY AS HE SEEMS AT LEAST BI. IT SEEMS TO BE A FAMILY TRAIT.
