Has anyone else here had the chance to read The Farm Boy, recently posted elsewhere? I found it to be a fascinating story. Cole Parker does not get too graphic in the story, but I could clearly feel the pain of having been abused, but also the hope for the future, on the part of the farm boy in this story. I wish I was better at describing things! I found it a very worthwhile story. I'll not spoil it (I think) by saying that Mr. Parker comes up with the most clever and fitting way of having the farm boy deal quite effectively with one of his tormentors - sort of revenge that actually can help the tormentor in the long run. Believing the promise of no explosions (see later in this thread): Edited to add a link to the story: awesomedude.com/cole-parker/the-farm-boy/the-farm-boy.htm

I like his work. There isn't one story that doesn't get to you in some way.

Cole is an excellent storyteller. I had the opportunity to read this and always recommend his work.

Just to be clear, in case it wasn't (sometimes I think about posts and come up with weird ideas, afterward) when you find stories you like, feel free to link to them. I won't explode because a good story was found at Gay Authors or Awesome Dude or what have you. As it happens, Cole edits for me and we have a very cordial relationship - I like and respect him a great deal. We also happen to disagree on stuff, which doesn't make him my enemy or anything. So, please, if you're trying to spare my feelings - thank you for being considerate - but please go ahead and link to things you like regardless of where you find them.

That's exactly it. I wasn't fearing that you'd explode, exactly. I guess I feared your feelings might be hurt or something, because I know there was a disagreement in the past... I'm glad I was wrong! I added a link in the first message above.

My disagreement was with the site owner, not with individual authors. While I continue to disagree and not like the treatment I received, I think that Mike is a far cry from Lord Voldemort, so I think he or his site can be named. I'm sorry if I've given the idea that I'm an inflexible jerk - I won't rehash the disagreement, I think I've said all I want to on that. My intention was never to make people choose or to think they might offend me if they found something they liked elsewhere. So if anyone felt that way, it wasn't my intent and I'm sorry if it made you feel uncomfortable or if you hesitated to post due to the idea you might make me angry or uncomfortable. Even if something did, I would speak to someone privately rather than taking someone to the woodshed publicly, as it were.
Post away, folks, I'm not quite the mad dictator you might think me :-)

We know you're an asshole. We wouldn't change it either.

I read the story shortly after it came out on AD. Parts of it are very painful to read ─ at least for me ─ because of things that happened in the lives of some people close to me. That said, it is a good story, even though I am in no hurry to read most of it again any time soon.
