You can reply as a guest, if you like but I have a little question....
So today I did something I do from time to time, which is meet with someone I met online - in this case, Valkyrie from Gay Authors. We've met before, when she comes through my neck of the woods, and we have a nice chat. I've met readers before and other authors from time to time, but we were discussing, among other things, sequels.
Now, I have some ideas for Things We Lost 2, tentatively titled Things We Found, and I'm not sure I have enough. But as we talked, I discussed the potential sequels to The Right One and The Facilitator. Now, I know at least one person is interested in a sequel to TRO - do any of you care about a sequel to Facilitator?

I have a love/hate relationship with sequels. I always want more of a story but sometimes the secret to the story's success is that I do want more. In other words the secret is in the wanting rather than the getting. That said, sometimes sequels can be a really positive deal. It depends on the skill of the author. You have excellent skill, Dave, so I've no real worries on that score. You'll do an excellent job. And yes, to more appropriately answer your question, I would love a sequel to Facilitator

If you're asking what sequel I want... Toy Soldiers please. Another place where Ryan is dearly missed.

In general, I agree with teddy. I think there's room for them on some stories, but not on others.
In my personal world, I know I have a really tough time writing sequels, despite there being a few requests for them on a couple of my stories, and despite me having promised to deliver. Sequels and I don't mesh very well, writing-wise. Collections are a different matter. Sanitaria Springs, for instance, is a growing community of sequels, but it certainly isn't the same as writing a sequel to a novel.
On another note, knowing what I know about the specific sequels you've asked about, I believe the community as a whole would appreciate those particular sequels. My insider knowledge tells me they'd be a great fit with your readers here.

Hmmm.... Sequels! As a general rule I avoid "series" fiction for a couple of reasons. 1. At my age who knows if I'll live to read the end of it. I bought a Brian Sanderson novel based on a couple of books of his I read only to discover that the 1000 or so pages was only the first in a series of books he was writing that could last 10 to 15 years or longer. 2. I don't know if the author will live to the end of the series. I was reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series when I discovered he was very ill. By book 8, each of which was 1000 or so pages I had invested several years reading approximately 8000 pages. (The last book spent 1000 pages and, basically nothing happened!.) He died without completing the story. (Ultimately Sanderson finished them, but not before I gave up on them.) I'm reading James S. A. Corey's Expanse series and hoping I'll find out what happens. Having said all that, I love the stories here. Odds are I would read most of them. I've been rereading the Sanitaria Spring stories while I work on information for the Wiki. The second reading almost invariably gives me new insight into the characters. I seldom fail to pick up some details that I missed the first time around. So, asl long as you promise not to write multiple 1000 page stories and drag it on for years you'll have me with you all the way.

Things We Lost screams for a sequel.
Wait - that was me screaming.

As mainly a reader, sequels are fine as long as they meet a goal and not take up space. Some have room for more information and some don't.

Thanks for the thoughts. The reason I asked was because, as a writer, I have to go with the ideas I have right now. Trying to force something just doesn't work for me, but when the ideas are flowing, I have to run with it if I want to write. Sometimes that's very inconvenient. Other times it becomes Things We Lost.
The reason I asked about those specifically is because someone had asked if a sequel to The Right One was a possibility. In my video I'd said I had 9 pages in, but had stalled. It's now at 22 pages, but a new idea intruded and it's been on my mind a lot. I've lain awake thinking about it and it's, more than anything, a sequel to Facilitator. TRO got minimal feedback at best and most of the discussion about Facilitator was whether or not, because of my mistake, it was an SS story - and Ryan riding me because he hated the names.
So that's why I was asking if it's something the readers want to read - if there is interest in seeing more from those characters.
I appreciate the comments made, and thank you to everyone who participated.
