By and large I'm not a fan of internet filters. Having said that, I did put one on my son's computer because I don't want him scoping out porn at 10. My son is also a devotee of Minecraft, a game that appears to be badly pixelated on purpose. You can play this game online with other people, but that's a bit of a problem. Adults and teens really don't want to play with little kids, which my son still is (no matter what he says) and I don't think that they should have to restrict themselves because there may be a child around. So we usually don't like him playing with others, at least until he gets a bit older. People are a lot braver in their own living rooms when they can't be physically reached by people they are cursing out. That reminds me of a Carlin bit - Have you ever noticed that the amount of an asshole a person is corresponds directly to the distance you are from them when you discover this flaw? Like the guy in the check out line ahead of you (whisper) This guys an asshole. The person in the mall is (normal speaking voice) pretty much of an asshole. The one on TV is (screaming) a real asshole! For years companies and schools have routinely blocked sites like mine, because gay. Any anything to do with sexuality, especially gay, must be x-rated. Verboten. But this new bill petitions the FCC to make content available at any school that gets public funds. Let the fundie screams of persecution begin.
