We're slowly making progress around here, in some areas and almost nothing in others. Firstly, the good news is that the county has decided to back keeping our foster in our home as being in his best interests. They also said things probably were put into motion far too quickly and that they hadn't encountered before what, essentially, was one foster parent trying to take a placement from another because the parent's rights had not been terminated. Now, we're not out of the woods yet, the mother gets her day in court and the ultimate decision is up to the judge. That's the short version and we find out on Thursday the 11th, though we may not know the final disposition because...children in care have a 'permanency goal'. This goal almost always begins as 'return to parent' or 'family reunification'. In can change, as a child has to be in care for 15 months in order to be freed for adoption or for the parent's rights to be petitioned to be terminated. At this court appearance the county will change their recommendation from 'return to parent' to 'adoption' as his permanency plan. Once the judge accepts this (virtually certain) the TPR still cannot be considered until October, fulfilling the 15 month requirement.
My son Blake went to an overnight summer camp for a week, and then while he was gone I had myself a mini-breakdown (not related to him). My mother offered to let him stay a second week, since he was having so much fun, and that happened. My husband and I also took a week of vacation in there and with Blake at camp and our foster at day camp, I suddenly ended up with some time on my hands. The good news is I have three new Sanitaria chapters that need tweaking and revising before edit and release. The bad news is I have another one to write before any of them can be released, due to timeline issues. Maybe. I'll think on if there is a way out of it.
All I can say about them is: There will be a new one from Alec's perspective involving Micah. One will begin with Dylan Whalen and be continued into a second. The third will take me back to Lucien. There may be a third to the Dylan story, as well. We'll see.
Also, the person who was handling the formatting for the print book has been unavailable to me for months and not responding to my emails. Unfortunately I can't recall what the changes were to the text, so this is the plan: The final version (hah) is being read through again and a hard list of changes will come back to me. Then I will pay to get the PDF file adjusted (unless I have a reader with the Adobe PDF editing program and wants to come to an agreement) and then I will upload that to Create Space and get a second copy with the glossy cover to compare to the matte finish. Then I can move on to printing.
Have a gret weekend and I hope I have new Sanitaria for you soon!
