So I tried to sell the red bus and, unfortunately, I ended up trading it for a convertible Rabbit what had a bad starter. At least that's what he said. This car has completely taken me to the cleaners.
I bench tested the starter and it works fine, so I put it back in the car but still not start. Seemed like I was having some voltage loss, but solved that by adding in a solenoid to boot the power to the starter. Still, no go. Just click, click.
So I decide to wait until spring and haul it to the garage for a professional to look at it. While getting ready to move it, I made a discovery about the transmission: either it's shit or majorly out of adjustment. It was in park and I could still push and move it freely.
It's under a tarp.

I worked on a car where I thought the starter was goofy. We got the rest of the story later. The engine was frozen. An expensive replacement job.

I got screwed on this one coming and going. I can hope that the linkage for the transmission is just misaligned and it will be an easy fix, but this car hasn't gone that way.

I have a new word for getting screwed on a vehicle purchase. I call it getting "craigslisted"... I have a lovely '86 Ford F150 Lariat for a driveway decoration resulting from being 'craigslisted'. It sits quietly puking up engine oil and transmission fluid even though it's been untouched for weeks.

Always liked the sheet metal on those trucks, though my general opinion of those who drive trucks is low lol. The Rabbit has also been dripping transmission fluid so, yay.

I'm a car person, but keep a pickup around for occasional utilitarian needs. It's a long, ugly story behind the pickup, one that resulted in the local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealer removing reviews from their facebook page and me being the proud owner of a new '17 Chrysler 300S Alloy Edition. I just don't have the time to invest in it at the moment, nor the money, for that matter. I'm thinking about turning the F150 over to the local high school auto mechanics class for teaching purposes. We'll see how that works out.
