two more for u Dave... the bus was on the wall of a restaurant on Pier 39 in San Francisco ( I dont think it was actually a real bus that they used, but who knows it was Calif.. LOL ) & the others were in Texas not far from the Cadillac Ranch so maybe this was the VW ranch LOL... .......

That's a pre-1970 model. The triple glass in the middle with the tilt out panes and the small oval tail lights. I'd drive it!

Love seeing all the air-cooled cars, kind of sad to see they are all junkers in a field Somewhere in the southern portion of Humboldt County, California, covered in berry briars, weeds, and alder saplings, there exists a VW graveyard. Dozens of cars and busses, I'd guess. I stumble upon it years ago before it became overgrown. At the time there was an old guy who worked on the things in his barn. He'd turn out one or two a year at most to sell and wouldn't sell parts unless he figured he had no further use for them. About a year ago, I suppose, one of the Facebook pages for that part of the country had a posting about the place with pictures and such. It was kinda sad seeing the decimation of mother nature on those wonderful old cars. Quite a discussion ensued from the original posting but bottom line was that the things were all on private property and of course privately owned. The owners were nowhere within a thousand miles and they were just going to continue to rot into the ground. Sad
