It's interesting to speculate how this story might be going with the now-adult Dave and Tim vis-à-vis Mike and compare to the now-adult Alec and Sasha vis-à-vis Micah.

In chapter 25 Mike Waters describes fixing himself breakfast, ending with: "It was all the basic food groups except cookies, and I felt pretty good about thinking to start the day off well."
For some reason that struck me as absolutely the perfect sentence for that spot in the story, and an illustration of why I'll take a chance on anything Driver writes.

It's been so long (15 years or more?) that I'll have to go back and read Quarry from the start because I've totally lost track of the protagonists, plot and subplots, and just about everything else other than the quarry itself which I remember very well! Weird how those sorts of things work.

Weird how those sorts of things work. Especially "Sudden Storm," which gives the essential backstory of the main protagonist of "Jack In the Box."

I remember a lot more about Sudden Storm than I do about The Quarry. The impact of that story on me was kind of profound.

I greatly enjoyed it, but in his 'Tales From the Quarry' I fell in love with Adam. Quarry and Tales From the Quarry are worth the time to read, more than once. Though, wow, I need to redesign that tales page, don't I? Yeesh. Noone tell Driver!

I understand Driver has been unwell for some months, but on looking at the site referred to earlier, I see a couple of new chapters have recently appeared.

Though, wow, I need to redesign that tales page, don't I? Yeesh. Noone tell Driver! Frankly, I'm not sure driver's aware it's even there. If you go to the "Quarry Tales" link on crvboy's site, a number of those stories aren't there. From what I gathered driver wasn't happy with them and pulled them down from crvboy's site. Dunno if it was for editing or just deletion, but they're not there.

And I still haven't gotten to redesigning those pages.... I don't think anyone's stressin' over it except maybe you.

That's probably true. I don't know if this is the reason why - and I could be incorrectly remembering these things - but Driver originally posted these stories with me before leaving the net for a while and asking for things to be removed. Many years later I approached him about reposting the stories and he agreed - so they may be the original files. I don't know if he made a decision at CRV that some stories weren't necessary - I haven't looked there and I'm not in contact with the site owner. Just a possibility.
