Had to adjust to this being back in time but really glad to see that Phil seems to finally gotten to the point that not only is he socially acceptable but that he has learned to be mature and able to adjust to life. Nice counterpoint and enjoyed seeing Bell becoming partnered - nice twist to take two "broken" people and making them whole - thank you for a wonderful, uplifting story.

Hi,m I'm glad you loved the story! I'm a little confused, what do you mean about adjusting to this being back in time?

"Back in Time" since Devyn is signing instead of talking after his surgery.

Oh, I see! Devyn had his surgery near the end of school - April/May. His recovery will take about 9 months, so he's not due to test out those vocal cords yet!

Although I can sat Cynus has a new story for SS debuting this weekend, already posted to his Patreon.

I missed this one last weekend.
Great story! This is the kind I like. Two people, broken, if you will, flawed just like the rest of us coming together. It's heartening to read when it all comes together. A happy ending! My favorite!

I loved seeing Philip finally getting a boyfriend. Bell too deserves a break. Hopely the long distance nature of their relationship will not keep them from developing long term. I think Philip has a long way to go though as he too quickly jumps on Bell's joke of needing photos to keep him from looking. It was clear to me that he just wanted pictures because they live too far to see each other daily. Bell was quick to dispel Philip's concerns and clear up what he meant but Philip needs to grow up. Still I enjoyed the idea that both Bell and Philip see themselves as broken and that rather than it being a problem to finding a boyfriend maybe they can actually complete each other. Maybe true soulmates are really those that may seem broken while separate and alone but can come alive when they meet and come together.

Bell and Philip both have more growing up to do. I hope we get the chances to see more stories in which they grow, emotionally and in their relationship. Is there any chance that Noel and Chris might be able to give advice to Bell in some future story? Or that you might borrow Everett and Abram from Cynus to give advice to Philip by accident when he overhears them talking at the pool about some other friend's problems?

What strikes me the most when I read this story is how Bell behaves. It's clear, from his past, that he was severely neglected and it shows. Bellamy flits from one persona to the next, depending on who he is with. He's salacious when he's talking about hot guys, playful with his friends, and almost tender with Phil. He even acknowledges that he slips into personas to keep his feelings hidden. It's common in abused and neglected children, but I have to wonder which of his interactions are genuinely Bellamy and which are him subconsciously mimicking the behavior and emotions of those around him.
I know Phil's behavior is similar, from his past.
It makes me wonder if their relationship isn't doomed from the start. Can two people who both are suppressing important "undesirable" facets of their personalities actually build a relationship when neither wants their true selves to surface?
I am aware they are building their relationship on what they believe to be brutal honesty, but are they? I think it is possible the brutally honest Bellamy is simply another persona. After all, he had such a hard time trusting others, due to a lifetime of parental neglect, did he really bare his core to Phil, or did he hold back?

Paul, I can see one of the guys in the Binghamton area helping him. He has Corbin, of course, and Declan - but Noel and Chris are in that circle as well. Everett and Abram are a few years younger and not really in Phillip's circle, nor are they necessarily in with the rest of the group at this point. I wouldn't look too far in their direction.

That's an interesting take - I think Bell feel's he was baring his soul, in a way. He may not have peeled all his masks off, but he did enough to feel vulnerable - and Phil opened up, responding to that vulnerability. I think we all have inner thoughts, what one might call our true selves which never are shown to anyone. A base desire or instinct that we suppress or relegate to the idea of fantasy.
