I loved Drafted. Thanks, Dave, for continuing to add to the SS universe! Micha is one of my favorite characters so far, amd i enjoyed meeting Leo and Henry.

Just read it. I'll be reading that again soon. I see you wrote in the part about the hoodie I read about someone doing. Very admirable.

Drafted is a very good story. Several things I immediately liked about the story including: A) The character of Leo. B) The characters of Jenna and Mark. C) The instances of parental non-verbal communication. I have seen that a lot among couples. Some couples are a lot better at that than others. My father was terrible with non-verbal cues unless they came in one foot high letters on signs. D) Micah's unselfish act with the hoodie. E) The interactions with Henry and Henry's parents. F) The goats and chickens. When I was young, my parents raised some chickens, and my best friend growing up had some goats. It brought back memories. G) Most people would not notice this, but I liked that the Fitzroys served Lima beans at that supper. H) I like that Micah is calling Robin "Uncle Robin."
I can come up with more, but we don't have the time. Good work, Dave.

I quite enjoyed Drafted, and like everyone else, it would seem, I find Micah interesting and endearing. Dave, you seem to have a knack for writing characters that I feel like I'd like to know.
I am curious. When I saw the name "Henry Fitzroy" it immediately made me think of the bisexual vampire in Tanya Huff's Blood and Smoke novels. Coincidence?

Complete coincidence. I enjoyed the novels, and have them on my shelf - Tony is a great character. I picked the name Henry because a) I hadn't used it before in this universe and b) it was unique enough not to get people confused with other characters because this is such an ensemble story. Fitzroy happened because I had a silly old joke going inmy head at the time - two Irish gay lads, Henry Fitzmichael and Michael Fitzhenry (If you like the double meaning). I just swapped it out, again as an uncommon name in the series to be confused and it hadn't been used before.
Micah seems to resonate with readers, which is really cool. He's come a long way from his spiritual introduction to his present incarnation. Someday someone will have to tell him they knew he was coming.

_ Also, the t-shirt gag. Seen it someplace. I troll Pinterest and sometimes save things I enjoyed and may try to adapt. I do the same with anecdotes and such. My friend, whom Travis in Family was loosely modeled on, told me about playing hockey in the living room with his girlfriend's son - and thus Lucien had a new childhood memory introduced. Be careful what you say around me - you may end up in my next chapter.

Great story! For those of us not in the USA what are Lime Jello and Cool Whip? Jello is a brand name for gelatin, in this case green with 'lime' flavoring. Col whip is a whipped cream (also a brand name) for topping of desserts primarily, but can be added to other recipes as in this case.

Col whip is a whipped cream (also a brand name) for topping of desserts primarily, but can be added to other recipes as in this case. It contains a small amount of cream and skim milk but it's mostly composed of water, vegetable oils and various types of sugar. It can taste OK in a better-than-nothing kind of way but for me it can't begin to compare at all to real whipped cream.

Thanks! I should have Googled them myself... brains of a newt, me.
Though the recipe sounds lovely, the gelatin puts me right off: 'Gelatin is a yellowish, odorless, and nearly tasteless substance that is made by prolonged boiling of skin, cartilage, and bones from animals.'
