"He was older, and I think that if you're older you must be a little farther along in the 'has their shit together' sweepstakes."
THERE'S A SWEEPSTAKES!? I'm old. Where do I enter?
I really enjoyed this story. I like Isaac and I like where he came from and where he is going. I like how he is maturing but still quirky (e.g., "So... sister-aunt. Made her spicy when I said that.")
I am glad to see Bellamy is doing well. I liked Isaac's observation about his clothes.
I like that your stories make me think about things I thought I knew. Like Isaac pondering "sage."
"I said sagely. Or tried to sound sage. How do you sound like a green spice anyway? How did that become the word for being wise? Too many people smoking green herbs was my guess."
Isaac's conclusion seems about right for a kid his age in this day and age, and I loved it. Then I remembered some lyrics "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme" and thought I've seen everything except sage while someone was cooking. So... off to the web.
Now I know what that Sage is. The description on the package was interesting. I wasn't expecting Pungent, Musky & Woody.
I was already aware of the meaning of A SAGE as a person who is wise through reflection and experience.
Isaac's musing on English verses other languages was interesting too. It made me think of a couple stories I saw once about "Pigs, Little, 3" and "Hood, Red, Riding and the Wolf, Big, bad."
I really liked Marshall's and Isaac's interaction/conversation at the end of the story.
I thank you for the story and I'm looking forward to more on Isaac and Marshall and if Derry gets Isaac to sit for a drawing.
Thanks for another happy Sunday evening. (Sorry my network provider went down, and I didn't get to this until now.)
