I have been thinking about asking about opening the board to guests. Then I saw this on YouTube.  Unfortunately the statistic makes me think it unwise to open the board again. So sad that there are unscrupulous people in the world. It also makes me appreciate you maintaining this board. Thank you for doing that. |

It's probably worth noting that "bots" covers a raft of perfectly legitimate activity - Google and all the other search engines refreshing their view of the web, the Internet Archive making copies of everything it can for posterity, systems all over the world pinging time servers to keep their clocks consistent, mail servers forwarding your daily dose of spam along with whatever actual mail you might receive, and so on. I'd be surprised if the malicious traffic on a typical day added up to more than 50% of the total. Well, maybe 55%.

I'd consider opening it up again to see if the board has been locked down long enough for them to have taken us off their lists or whatever it is they do.

Are you familiar with the old adage "One bad apple spoils the whole bunch?" So much time and effort is spent by the "Good Apples" searching out and eliminating the "Bad Apple." While most of the apples just quietly go about life. I blame the Post Office. They started it by letting advertisers fill my actual mailbox with stuff I don't want to know about that they want to sell. |

Given the weather that is going on nationwide at this time, I'm thinking now is not a good time to expect valid results. I'm not sure if people are hunkering down and using the internet a lot or if they are without power and just trying to stay safe and warm. Be that as it may, I have no idea how hard or involved it is to open the site to guests and then monitor the results. I support which ever choice you make. |
