So often there are so many tings to look back on in a year that weren't so great. It's certainly been an eventful year with many ups and many downs. My middle child moved out on his 18th birthday last January and pursued his dream of being a pothead. There was a lot more to that, but he now lives with his birth mother - certainly not anything we'd hoped for for him. My oldest has a solid job and is doing well and we get along better now that we don't live together. My youngest is well and looking toward his future.
Jake, our dog, is two years past his death defying, wallet strangling surgery and is doing well, subsisting on his favorite 'Three Dog Bakery' cookies, spiral ham, rotisserie chicken and the occasional bit of ground beef. Yeah, he's living his best life.
I wrote less than I'd have liked this year, but I find I go in cycles - I have my clocks that I work on, but when I do I tend to be away from the PC. I play World of Warcraft - but that's been very odd as one of my longtime friends in the game died this past June and it';s changed the game for those of us that knew him. But I am playing more and it keeps me closer tot he PC, and thus writing more. I also have the cars of course. The Quantum is at my friend's garage, but he's still putting up insulation so the rust work hasn't yet started. I took the cash I had set aside for car parts and used it for the Quantum as I thought I'd[ be starting that sooner; the Phaeton needs a cluster sent to the UK to be refurbished and it will not be inexpensive.
The clocks migrated from the garage to an empty bedroom, but I h ave yet to get back into their repair and restoration, though I should have fixed one over the holidays as my old supervisor picked one out. Speaking of my old supervisor, I moved into a new position at work this past May and that's working out well, though in some ways I'm still learning. I was told it'd take about a year to get comfortable.
So what do I have planned between me and thee, dear reader? I will start to release a new serial this Sunday called 'A Life Lived'. I have a new short as part of the Ourobouros Inc set that I have to send out to start beta reading. I have five pages of notes on a serial to start and had a request this morning for more Rion and Claudio, though sequels are never guaranteed. At some point I'll be spending some evenings or weekends working on the Quantum and in the spring I'll likely send out that cluster for refurbishing.
So I hope we have reason to be optimistic for the new year. Let's hope for better things!
