You need to fit a square peg into a round hole. What do you do? The only limits are your imagination and your wallet. The more you know about making things fit and building parts, the cheaper it will be. Me, I like building, welding and doing the impossible. Like when I built my Jeep. I tinkered with it for 5 years and started driving it 2 years ago. Outward appearances, it's ok but not really noteworthy. When you open the hood is when it draws a crowd. That happens at gatherings. Everyone sees a Jeep and walks past. Open the hood and it's a magnet. Not your average Jeep powerplant. I put a small block Chevy in it. I made everything to put it in. People see it, bow and tell their buddy's who want to look. Happens a lot. It looks stock for the most part, but the stock parts work modified pieces not meant to be there and surprises everyone. Don't be afraid to do something. Ask, get advice and learn. Get dirty and use your brain.

Trying to get funds together to build a rack for the rear inside floor to mount my full size spare tire, lightweight floor jack and other things so everything will be stable and secure. There were stock tie downs in the rear, but they were attached to the floor with plastic rivets. Those won't hold a 50lb tire down. In stock form. Here is what the floor looked like after the carpet was pulled up. I took two of these stock 3/4 ton Chevy shock mounts, cut them in half and am welding those to the rack so it can be unbolted from the floor easily. And you get this. Time to bring back empties so I can get steel.

Went a different, cheaper and better route. Didn't buy any steel. I used cable clamps instead. Bolted them to the floor which go thru the floor and frame. Plenty strong. The hooks go thru them and hold the spare tire down along with the jack.

I'll replace the pull straps with ratchet straps soon. Can get them tighter.

I need to get back into building things and stuff again. It's frustrating, but a challenge makes me happy. A sense of accomplishment.

Fascinating pictures, even for a non-mechanical person like myself. When will you be posting more?

When I decide on something. I don't have unlimited materials so it takes thought.
