Looking for something to read this weekend, I pulled up an old bookmark that I check periodically. It was Deweywriter dot com. I used to follow quite a few stories over there, but it hasn't been updated in about 2 years. I loved Eggman's story about Prez and Keith, and Mike and Derrick. The only thing new I've found by him has been on the CSU using the same characters but in that universe.
The other thing I found was James Savik's stories. I remember reading them years ago, but started over with Twilight. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it again. I was surprised (again) to see a reference to Ft. Detrick, Md. and USAMRIID. I was stationed there for the last four years of my Army career. I can count on both hands the number of people I know of or have met, both military and civilian, who've ever heard of the place, much less know what they do there. Great story!
The other one is "Broken." It's exceptionally well written and I was hooked for all 23 chapters that are posted. My question is, is this the same James Savik who is on this board, and if so, has this story ever been finished? I'd love to read the rest of it.

I hope I'm not bringing up a sore subject. I genuinely liked his stories.

I'm sure it isn't. Every author likes hearing what people thought-but I do know he's a very busy bee. He'll be around, I'm sure.

I remember reading The Eggman's stories. He had a site called The Onion or something like that. Then they just stopped. Later they appeared on Deweywriter, but they were the same stories I remembered. I used to frequent Deweywriter but I gradually fell away. If I remember updates were infrequent and haphazard. I didn't remember James Savik. Im going to have to go read the stories and see if I remember them.
James: With this kind of reccomendation I'll have to go right away and read this. Maybe I'll have one of those "Woah! I remember this!" moments. (I have more and more of those as I get older.
Steve: Thanks for reminding us of the site. I find myself going to fewer and fewer places (sites) as time goes on.

The Glass Onion was Eggy's site. He originated the Baysville round robin story; the remnants are found here. David HK wanted to restart it, but he fell away over time and I wasn't able to re-establish communication with him.

Hi-
Yes- Broken & Twilight are both my babies.
Broken isn't finished and, I don't have an estimate on when I'm getting back to it. It gets really ugly and I'm not sure if I really want to write the end.
There are 5 other stories that fill in the gaps:
the Place In Between
Getting to the Happily Ever After
Jeff
Nightfall
Redemption
Twilight is complete and has nothing to do with sparkly vampires. The Idiot vampires came along and stole my wonderful title. They also sucked so badly that everyone assumed it was fan fiction and avoided it. I changed the title to In the Shadow of the Dragon when I reposted it at GA.
I have another story cooking called Operation Hammerhead that is on again, off again. It's big and complicated and I need a month, desert island and a carton of Camals to finish it. It introduces a sci-fi universe that I plan to play in for several upcoming stories.
In my copious free time, I'm also a gradual student. If I had the cash I could get it done quicker so it's gradual.

I can see how finishing "Broken" could be tough. The things that happened to some of those characters was downright criminal. I thought that after Jimmy and Scotty got back together after the thing with Pete that things might improve for them. Reading the other stories that you posted about above, I noticed that several names were conspicuously absent. I can only imagine what happened to them.
Just know that if you ever get back to this one, there's at least one person out here who would love to read it...even if the ending isn't a happy one.

James Savik's work has always been a favorite of mine, so thanks, James :-)
The original poster above mentioned deweywriter dot com. Dewey is a friend of mine. He sat with me during one of the hardest things I ever had to face in my life. He didn't say much and honestly, nothing really needed to be said. He was just there beside me. And really, what else does one need sometimes other than to just have someone be there? We sat down for a meal together last summer when he was passing through my area. I was sad to see his website shut down but was unable to discuss it with him due to the fact that neither of us were alone.
