Here's another story where I couldn't find an existing thread. I hope I didn't miss it elsewhere.
"I wiped my eyes as the song ended and, because I'm a masochist, I hit replay."
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this...even if Shane is a fictional character. Sometimes, I think we all need a good cry!

Congrats on posting first, Steve! Is that still a thing? I think it should be ;-) I think we all have some songs that get to us, maybe make the old voice shake or hitch our breath. One for me is Sarah MacLachan (sp?) In the Arms of the Angel. How about you guys?

For me it's sort of situational. It's not always a certain song, but the performance of a certain artist.
One that always get to me, though is called Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson. This video is her first public performance of it on the old American Idol. The song is about her birth father abandoning her and her family, then about the step father who took his place, then about her feelings for her own daughter and how she will never abandon her the way her own father did. She barely makes it through to the end as she is so emotional. Hearing this song always makes me remember this performance.

I really like these characters. And especially liked the SS reference in Chapter 4.
Well done!

I really like these characters. And especially liked the SS reference in Chapter 4. Well done! Steve T. When Cynus was writing the original universe, he surprised me one day by telling me Clint had relatives in SS. I'm still hopeful we'll meet those relations, one day.

So this was a really nice story - compact like a pie, as one of my mentors at school said recently. Everything fits into a neat, self-contained package.
I liked how it starts with Shane helping Travis find his confidence, and ends with Travis giving Shane some much needed emotIonal support. It illustrates a nice give and take that makes a healthy relationship that a lot of stories - be they print, tv or movies - miss.

Nice! That was a sweet little story. I especially like the little touches of realism, like the recurring instances of Shane and Travis walking with their coat sleeves joined so that they could hold hands.
Thanks for this one. I wouldn't mind seeing more from this universe from both you and Cynus.
