Anybody else here get tired of that site? A case in point being, "My Only Escape". That story has been ongoing for 16 years that I know of and it was going when I found it. The problem is NOT that the stories there aren't compelling. They are. It's that they're never ending with months or even years between installments. It's so bad that I can't remember, between release of installments what was happening in the previous chapter. I've not read anything there in several years now but am still on the site email list, which I've recently discovered has been going into my spam box for who knows how long.
I don't really mean to disparage Comsie. He's tells a good tale, but jeez...

Interesting you should mention that particular story, as it is the only Comicality story that is also hosted here and I happened to be looking at it recently. It didn't look like the last chapter posted here was the end of the story, so I went over and checked that site, and the copy here is, indeed, up to date. That's despite the fact that the last two chapters here have copyright dates in 2010.
In computer software that's what we call "abandonware".

If I recall correctly, in a recent email from the site a new chapter to the tale was announced. The chapter number was up in the high teens I think.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, I believe he started using a different website and the old one is languishing without updates. I may stand corrected however.

While I rarely read Comicality, I notice on Nifty that "My Only Escape" is up to chapter 28, with two chapters being posted so far this year. Looking at the dates on Nifty, I see one chapter was posted almost 19 months after the previous, and several chapters were posted more than a year apart. The first posting was listed as September 2, 2001, or almost 18 years ago.
On Gay Authors, the story started posting in 2010, and the same chapter, 28, was posted almost at the same time as on Nifty.

I first encountered the tale in late 2003 on Conmsie’s own page, The Shack Outback. He has since migrated to GA or some other place as his home.
I guess my point is that this and all the other stories have been in serial for so long and with such huge gaps in the posting timelines that It literally wore me out and I’ve lost interest.
I bring it up now due to the very recent discovery of his emails in my spam, and I started wondering if anyone else here tired of it like I did.

OK, now I'm seriously confused. I would have sworn that I checked Comicality's site for possible updates, but I can't find any indication in my browser history that I did so prior to today. And except for one link to comicality.org, which is now defunct, all the links in the local copy of My Only Escape point to Gay Authors, which has 13 additional chapters. I think I'm losing my mind.
And more to the point, I'd have to say that yes, I too have a hard time with stories that only get updates once or twice a year, or less.

I'm not sure how he does it, keeping his legions of fans with that kind of posting schedule. I know I lost folks when I was doing 'sat of the pants' writing for quite a while. It's why I swore not to release any stories before they were done anymore. I think Wayward Son was the last serial I wrote that was incomplete when I started the process. The feedback helped with motivation, but that doesn't really happen chapter to chapter, at least not for me.

That kind of posting schedule loses me. I read one serial, years ago, recommended by a friend, the final chapter was posted more than EIGHT YEARS after the first chapters. (It was also riddled with inconsistencies, especially in the final chapter.)
I am reading one other author who was almost 3 years between two of the postings, due to a major car accident. He now posts much slower due to injuries from the accident interfering with his writing.
Consistent posting helps keep readers.
