I won't go into details, for those who will read story as it goes along. However, I must say a terrific story. Up until this one, Quantum was my favourite. This story is the best yet Thanks (and keep them coming)

I see his mom isn't mentioned in this chapter. It does show the influence she has on him.

Well she is mentioned.
Ahem, is it just me or is the delusional (and abusive) parent almost becoming a common trope for recent stories?
It's kind of heartbreaking to think if there really are parents like that out there.
At least drew has a support system for the moment.

I don't know how common it is, but I know I've used it sometimes. Kids in these situations frequently have adults in their lives with psychological issues, if not outright mental disease. When constructing a story about teens, especially in peril like Drew is in, the adults have to have had a failure - aggression, substance abuse and mental disorders are going to be most common. Inability to 'adult' can also be an issue.

From what I have read so far, I think this will be a good story.

Just got done with chapter 5. It was a great chapter until I read the last lines. Ch 6 IS on deck and will be reading that shortly. Maybe his mom was playing a psycho for a reason.

I was just re-reading this one and just wanted to comment that I, personally, appreciate the ability to increase the font size at the top right corner. My crappy eyesight seems to get worse all the time and making the text bigger is a real benefit to me. Thank you , Dave!

I'd love to take credit, but I get donated help in modernizing the site - changes are coming. But this one belongs to my primary editor, Darrell, who came up with and implemented the idea. He's been a huge help!

I'm what - two years - late to post here, but I just started and finished PCE this past week.
What a powerful book. I don't want to spoil it for any who haven't read it yet. I just want to say I found it both believable and moving. Although I've never encountered a situation with such awful mental illness of a parent impacting a child, I have encountered situations with less dramatic parental mental illnesses complicating a child's life.
[The following is not a complaint! I was having a hard time figuring how PCE is a Sanitaria Springs story until I remembered who used to work at that burger joint.]
