This was really enjoyable, in the best Dabeagle tradition. There's a new and intriguing protagonist on a voyage of discovery, but of an environment we've already discovered ourselves in previous stories, so it's interesting to see it through a different set if eyes. In a way it helps us relive the surprises we had when, for example, first witnessed Alec's antics. Great character-driven story, my favorite kind.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Paul! Cole Darby, Hamster's previous love interest, wasn't really fully formed and he was also long distance. The idea for Derek came about when I saw the picture that went along with the story. Knowing Hamster's predilection for coffee, I thought it might be a nice touchstone for them and, in the end, it was just something on the side. I'm sure it'll come back again, but it was nice getting Derek to the table.

I loved it too! I found it yesterday about 3am at "last call". Finished up at 4am.
Bah! Sleep is over rated.

I liked it. The end was a surprise, to me anyway.

I loved this. Hopefully, we will see more of Derek's character development from time to time. It was good to see more of Austin, as well.
This ties in very well with "Built to Last" as well.

Didn't notice this thread, before, and posted in the 'updates' section. I'm glad there's a lot more insight given into Austin, Robin and Lucien all being best friends. I like the development showing between Austin and his new 'boyfriend'. HE seems to have the right personality and fits in pretty well with the whole family. I also love the Batman and Robin references. It had just occurred to me the other day, when someone made me watch one of the Dark Knight movies the other day, and if you hadn't already use it, I was definitely going to pester you to writer something batman related into a scene with Robin .
