I'm going to say up front that part of this is my own fault. This is book three in the series and I picked it up in a store in Mississippi figuring gay themed books need to be bought in places like that. It starts out well enough and we start getting to know our two protagonists and what role magic plays in the setting, but then they get torn apart - and we jump ahead in time and tons of characters from (presumably) the previous two books become prominent as we follow other story lines to the point we almost forget about our two guys when we see either of them again. Perhaps if I'd read from the first book I may have enjoyed it more, but the fact that it jumped around so much - like a GoT for teens - left me wishing the author would stick with one story line. This book covers a lot of territory and if you like the style, grab book one and get to it.
