This books brings some needed diversity to the genre. I enjoy stories about cure pale boys with abs as much as anyone, but the main character is a bit overweight and wants to fix that, feels like it might be too much to come out to his conservative parents, who have adorable routines and are hard-working, simple people who love their kid. But their kid, Enrique, also has a best friend who is a real rock for him and is encouraging - and doesn't know Enrique had a breakdown last summer. To top it off, even though there are three guys Enrique puts on his list of possibilities, he leaves off the one his heart truly aches for - Saleem. I liked this book, I liked the introduction of non-white main characters that were still relatable, though we could also see their own journey - but I have to tell you friends and neighbors, the title....In the afterword the author thanks the publisher for letting him keep the title. But why? It has to be the worst title for a good story ever.
