A lovely read indeed!
Favorite bit "Mine's glazed doughnut."
A lot of pithy observations/comments on present day life.
Nice tie into previous stories. Interesting new characters and expansions of previous characters.
I hope to see more of Bryce, Riley, Ansel and Joe in the future.
Thank you, Dave.

Well, I'm glad to see a new story. I was becoming concerned with the long dry spell.

Shadetree is a lot of fun. Fun to see Derek turn up, he always makes stories better.
When you introduced Ansel in Desperado I was wondering why he wasn't Dale Kennedy, but I see what you were doing now.

Believe it or not, Shadetree was started before Desperado, but then I got the idea and started in on Desperado and it took me a lot longer to come back and get this one done. Just the way my mind works I guess.

Uh-ho, when I translated the story into the webpage I accidentally added the 's' and renamed the it from Dave's original Shadetree Mechanic. Sorry about that. Probably something to do with me growing up on the other side of the pond where we tend to make things plural (maths v math etc). Or maybe it's just the diet of fish and chips and warm beer that done me in Rob.

Well, I'm glad to see a new story. I was becoming concerned with the long dry spell. Ok - but Conversations 3 wasn't that long ago. I had to go reread it after it was mentioned here also. Always enjoy the SS stories.

Well...it HAS been a fat minute, to be fair. Too many things going on - but my next one is about 30 pages in so there is hope.

Well, as I am always searching for a new story from a favorite writer, and have free time on my hands it feels like long ago. The last post, Conversations 3, was in April as I recall. So about three months. I also love the SS stories.

I spend my days at home and watch TV or read stories online, both here and elsewhere. If I recall correctly it was over three months ago, sometime in April. That was the time Conversations 3 was posted.

That sounds about right. Sometimes it's just harder to get the words down than others. Sometimes when I have the time, I don't have the extra whatever it takes to get the words down. Sometimes I get distracted with other crap. My middle son moved out on his 18th birthday this past January and has been something of a concern since. Not that he was exactly what one could call a good son before. He didn't want to listen to anything, cared only for his own fun and smoking pot. He's moved back in with his birth mother. I saw him a week or so ago for the first time in more than a month - only because he was out of food. All I can say is he stunk of pot, his tattoo seemed to be spelled correctly and his mother has a very fetching ankle monitor. He said she's being good now, staying home and cleaning or going to work and he thinks that's because he's there. Setting aside this is the same circumstance that got him taken from her, she's not doing that well as she was just arrested again this past January - intent to distribute, I think. Oh, and someone he knew was murdered with a gun. He was hiding under a tow truck, he claims, while that was going on to avoid the bullets.
I don't say this to imply this is my daily existence, not by any means. I wish I wrote more, too. I tell myself stories a lot while I drive, in the shower or when I'm in a 'hurry up and wait mode' at work. I haven't forgotten you, I promise, and I have more stories to tell and likely will until you're sick of them. Just...sometimes they come slow.
