For lols and discussion. Looks like the soda-pop line runs near the Springs (ugh sorry it's mini, I'm new at this. Is there a way to make it grow?)

You just have to click to embiggen. So Dinosaur has more than one location, and they are good - I just don't like the wide open layout which can be really, really noisy. I've heard of Mozzie sticks offered with the raspberry, but never tried. Buffalo wings, well...duh. The chicken riggies is interesting. I know of a local place that offers it, heard them on the radio (good food, lousy experience) and I think their first restaurant is in Utica. Utica is also the location of Utica Club beer, famous for the first brewery to start up after...a war. I looked it up, it's in Shadetree Mechanic. Tomato pie, I was told, is a western NY thing, by my former supervisor. SS is east of Binghamton, so squarely in the spiedies area, though I've never tried one.

I've been to Dinosaur in Syracuse - I have friends there. I've had spiedies at the Spiedie & Rib Pit off of I-81 north of Binghamton and at the State Fair in Syracuse. I think my first experience of cheese curds was in Wisconsin. Buffalo wings are, I think, ubiquitous these days - I've had them at a local place in Augusta, Georgia. And something called "sharp cheddar" seems to be available pretty much everywhere, too, although I don't think a lot of it would pass muster in upstate New York.

Cabot used to be the #1 rated brand (by America's Test Kitchen), but it's only available at Sam's Club here locally in backwards "Little Egypt" (a.k.a. Southern Illinois). Otherwise, it's available under a number of brand names elsewhere. I love a good, sharp cheddar and I particularly like the New England style 'white' cheddar. It pairs quite well with fruit as I use it for my pineapple au gratin and apple pies.

All the images show up small. "Logged In" readers can click on all the images and the image will open in a separate tab in full size. All the images I post in Friday Humor can be clicked by members and seen in a larger version in the new tab. Of course, I'm assuming reader is using a MAC or PC. I don't know what happens if you are using a cell phone. Your participation in the forum is appreciated.

Just to clarify the clarification: On my Android phone, tapping the mini-image opens the larger version in a new tab, scaled to fit the display; it can be further enlarged with the pinch-zoom gesture. Tapping the Back control closes the tab and returns me to the post. I would guess it's pretty much the same on an iPhone or iPad. (I had forgotten, if I ever knew, that you have to be logged in on the forums to access the full-size image, but I accidentally managed to verify that, too.)

I run kind of hot and cold about posting here, but it's fun when a thread gets going. It's fun about "embiggen." That was meant to be a little joke about local vernacular, but English doesn't actual have a a regular-usage single word for "make it bigger". I think lots of people remember that episode, but embiggen gets used as a regular word now that isn't just a Simspons reference

OMG that is so cringeworthy, Simpson's reference or not. Makes me want to go all grammar police on someone.

I've seen embiggen used on other forums, though it didn't land strangely enough on my ear to question it. Unlike when I was in he Navy and someone told me he was in agreeance and I cocked my head like a dog who hears a weird noise.

Holy hell. I'd NEVER heard it used until this thread. Come to find out it's etymology goes all the way back to 1884 Britain, though it's mostly noted now for its "Simpson's" usage. My first thoughts would be to use 'expand' or 'enlarge'.
