I can tell that this is one of the stories I will be reading parts of again and again for a while. Jamie still needs to work on his temper. Sean once again showed his compassion, as he did earlier for Teddy and Trent. He was closer than anyone else on expressing concern regarding Sean's mother. However, Hamster would have been also able to express some degree of sympathy and empathy, even though his situation was a bit different. Asher is a good story, found at dabeagle.net/stories/dabeagle/sanitaria_springs/asher.htmlIf someone would explain how to create a hyperlink on this board, I would appreciate it. Every board seem to have a differing process. Thanks.

Okay, somehow I made a hyperlink, even if I did not understand how. Thanks, whoever programmed the board.

When making a hyperlink, you highlight the text you want (click and hold, drag the cursor over desired text) and then at the top there is two groups of buttons, the first one in the second group lets you create a link.
Jamie is one of the more interesting newer characters. Initially I wasn't much of a fan, but as he's begun to develop he has some redeeming qualities that I think we can all recognize - loyalty being the first. Writing Jamie, for me, is a fine line because I never feel like that troublemaker from the past is more than just under the surface of his smile. Unlike Alec, who wanted to have fun but aimed never to hurt, Jamie hasn't developed that 'let's think this through' idea, yet. It lands him in hot water, but he's also learning from his mistakes. That we would all do that!

This story is proof that when can't seem to get any lower, there is one direction left to go. Up.

The story was a bit hard to follow because of Jamie, actually... I thought recent stories had basically worked him out and mostly gotten him over the mega-mouth complex.
Then I figured it was because the story seemed to be arcing back into the past, so maybe we were still seeing the old Jamie. At one point though, I figured maybe he is having too much of an impact on Sean, because one of the lines that Sean said seemed pretty wrong for him and definitely more something Jamie should be scripted for.
Also, it was kind of refreshing that Asher was able to see Sean and Jamie as separate people, instead of recognizing them as twins like everyone else does... How's he able to tell them apart, anyway?

I would expect Jamie and Sean to influence each other: Jamie becoming more thoughtful and maybe Sean becoming more outgoing.
They make an intriguing pair.

I have noticed that people perceive the looks of another person in differing ways. I have an acquaintance that I think greatly resembles her father; nearly everyone else things she resembles her mother. One of my high school classmates was very distinctively himself when we were in high school; now he resembles another classmate I have known practically from birth. I know a pair of identical twins who were exposed to differing food habits after marriage, and one was affected by chemicals; now one is nearly bald and bulked up with 75 pounds more muscle than his twin. Perhaps Sean and Jamie now have different hair styles, such as one longer and one shorter. Being exposed to the Lucien/Robin drama in Built to Last at dabeagle.com/stories/dabeagle/sanitaria_springs/btl.htmlwould have affected Sean and Jamie differently, as well. The differing genetic makeups of Sean and Jamie could have caused one of them to have more "bulking up" than the other, making them look a little less alike.

The thing you have to remember about Jamie is he absolutely adores Sean. He's always wanted the kind of sibling relationship his older brothers have and now that he has it he's completely in love with it. After what happened in Jamie's Buddy, yes, Jamie has become a little more thoughtful but he'll do anything to protect Sean. When he saw one of the school bully's supposed lackys talking to Sean he went into defensive mode and a bit of the brash old Jamie came out. I think we can forgive him the slip and as we all know, growing up is a process.

Jamie calls Sean his "Twin brother from another mother," and yes, the resemblance is striking but not so much so that you can't tell them apart.

Thanks for the comment and that point of view. For me, writing Jamie and any other character, is that behavior takes a long time to change. Jamie is a smart kid, but even so, behavior like that doesn't change overnight - and as Ryan said and I hope this chapter illustrates - the bond between Jamie and Sean is quite tight. Jamie, being a bit more aggressive / rough and tumble in nature makes his response much easier to understand. In fact, for me, I expected him to react that way - hey! My brother is in trouble! Fists up and here we go. Will he always be that way? I think he'll mellow as time passes, but his instinct to protect is ingrained - at least, that's the way I see Jamie.

The SS universe builds on itself and references other stories and story lines as it goes. David Mullins, having been handed to us by Cynus as a bully, was ideal both in the context that the reader would be familiar with him and that we didn't have to introduce a new player. In terms of the storyline, Cynus's chapters appear near Valentines Day and, in the SS universe, we haven't quite gotten there yet. We have one more coming which takes place closer to XMas and then we'll hop forward to the timeframe that Cynus's later chapters exist in.
Even in SS, spring is just around the corner with...Bunnies.
