My goodness, jumping past the first ten chapters? I'd think you'd miss way too much of the story!

Actually, you would miss it all. The story starts at the first chapter. Coming in any later and you won't know what's going on.

Well, he said he read the first few chapters and was not sucked into the story. So if he jumped ahead to the chapter 11, much of the action hits from the last 12 or 15 paragraphs of chapter 11 through chapter 16.
Of course many people may not have a near photographic memory when reading fiction, as I do. Some might have to skim the chapters they already read, at the least.
It has happened to me before-- I start a story, then abandon it, only to revive it when a trusted friend recommends the same story. MSI (My Secret Identity) is worth reading. But it seems to change directions about two or three times before everything is established.
I look forward to the eventual sequel, Wardens of the West. (Hint, hint, Ryan!)

Sure you could jump ahead to all the action but if you did that you'd be missing a lot of the emotional development. I would think you would also want to understand how Bobby and later Spencer acquired their powers.
