Something in a post regarding "The Perils of Lucien, part 1" caused me to do additional thinking. He said something like, "It's hard to pick a favorite character...." In my case, it would be easier to list my top twenty favorites of the Sanitaria Springs series, rather than just one or two. So, here is my list:
Alec Kutsenko, Kale Kirkwood, Chase Dudley Kirkwood, Lincoln (Linc) Kirkwood, Robin Kirkwood, Lucien Rousseau Kutsenko, Douglas and Alice Kutsenko, Judge Andrew J. Kirkwood, Evelyn Kirkwood, Sean Kelly, Jamie Kirkwood, Austin Hamilton, Charlie, Sophie, Gavin, Derek Pelligrini, Devyn Kennedy, Sasha Buchannan, Elliot, Griffin Douglas, Walt the Barber, Seth McAllister, Logan Whitmore, Gary Whitmore, Grayson Anderson, Sonya Lamb, Daniel Boone Brownstone, and Ted Kutsenko, Asher, George Dudley, Colby -- and I haven't even listed everyone I want to list yet, and already I am at 25 + people or so out of twenty.
It's all the fault of you authors! If you would write crappy stories, instead of great ones, I wouldn't have the problem of liking too many people!

Looks like a good list. I'd be curious to see the other end of the spectrum, which characters you hate.

Royce would get the nod there. He's the most notable at the moment.

Billy Carlisle did too, but he redeemed himself later.

If early reports are true, in several weeks, Asher might be on that list as well.
My favorites tend to rotate, to a degree and while they all have a special place for me, as a unit as members of that universe, I do have some that more consistently spring to mind. Ryan likes to tease me about my 'Robin worship' and has recently accused me of the same with Sean. I've had some intense writing moments with Alec and Sasha and Devyn. One character that resonates frequently is Hamster, but I haven't been moved to create something else specifically for him and he's been pretty consistent as part of the ensemble. Derek is another who falls in the same category. Logan Whitmore was a character I liked instinctively and then Seth grew on me - Grayson was written directly to interact with them. At some point there will have to be a unifying story, as I think Seth, Gray and Logan are all in the same grade as Jamie, Sean, Scotty and Asher.
I guess I spread it around, and while I never fall out of love with a character, I do fall in love with new ones. As for the negative characters, I've always been a fan of redemptive stories, but they have to be just so. When Cynus was creating 'Strays' we had a conversation where we agreed, Alec wasn't going to get over what Billy did and it essentially cut the character of Damon off from the group.

Royce is not in jail, at this point he's out on bond.

There are so many I like that it's somewhat difficult for me. Also I'm biased. So, I think I'd go author by author if I wanted to do this properly, and I'll take a favorite from each author of the Sanitaria Springs series. First up is Dabeagle, as the original creator of the series, and that choice is easily Alec for me. I've related to Alec since day one, and I have to say I've never really been disappointed by him. Ryan Bartlett's Robin . . . Well, let's just say that Dave isn't the only one in love with Robin. He's my favorite character in Sanitaria Springs, though I adore Jamie as well. Cole Parker's Walt. The kind old man is exactly who I want to be cutting my hair. Lugnutz' Ted Kutsenko. He's the kind of guy I've always had a soft spot for. Pedro's Peter. I also have a soft spot for men that are delightfully British. Colin Kelly's Dan. I like anyone who despises spiders as much as I do. James Merkin's Maurice. I like it when people are comfortable to be who they are. Maurice exemplifies that. I feel like I'm missing authors in the Sanitaria Springs universe, but maybe I'm only missing myself. I have a hard time choosing my favorite character from my own work, so I'll have to give you four. I love Seth and Logan and I love Tyler and Jordan. Both are pairs of best friends that are written from the depth of who I am as a person, and I can't say no to any of them.
