This is one of my all time favorites, and it makes me cry, every time I read it, because I see so much of Wesley in my early life. It's a beautiful love story set in a tragic life. You won't be disappointed. iomfats.org/storyshelf/hosted/grasshopper/

Grasshopper, when he was writing, was a very talented young writer. I think he was something like 14 or 15 when he began having his work hosted over there. I thought "Darkfall" a very good serial as I did "Beyond the Rain." I remember my Grandmother singing that nursery song to me that he mentioned in the prologue to Darkfall.
My favorite of his stories though were his short stories. "Do You Remember When You Colored the Sky Orange" and "Whispers From the Past" are my favorites but they're all good, I think.
I spent some time exchanging email and IM with Grasshopper over the later years of his time authoring stories. We both shared a similarly unfortunate past that drew us together to some degree in a kind of mutual supportive friendship and I can only thank him for his kindness during those years. I hope he is still out there writing somewhere. It was his creative outlet.
