Life at a 45 degree angle in my adjustable bed putts on. Started PT last Wednesday. See the surgeon on the 22nd. So far so good. Looks like I avoided a shoulder joint replacement. (knock on wood.)
Here is a link to a clip of boys gathering at a piano in a mall.
It got me to thinking about Eliot. I wondered if there were any "Play Me I'm Yours" pianos in any malls near SS.
Boys gathering around a piano jamming. I would like that.
Mees, then 13, the boy that started it, has some other clips online too.
I was also surprised and delighted that the tall thin boy in the red coat joined in. He is Gert van Hoef.
I discovered Gert van Hoef several years ago. I do like loud thunderous organ music. I was fascinated by his story. He started fooling around on his grandfathers organ, seen in the clip, when he was 11. Here is a clip of him at 14.
At age 15 he won a Netherlands national organist competition. People could not believe he had only been playing for 4 years.
Several of his videos show him with a boy named Jan. Jan was his registrar (the person that controls the organ stops). I may or may not have harbored a hope that they were "an item". Here is a clip of them inaction. They were touring a cathedral with a historic organ. When the Head Organist found out who he was he invited him to play. What follows is 13 minutes of spontaneous improvisation. I am amazed at the piece. I liked the interaction between Gert and Jan. The ease and familiarity of their interaction may or may not have fueled some of my fantasies.
Spoiler alert! In his later videos Gert is on Tour accompanied by his.... girlfriend.
Oh I do babble. Time for my meds. Thanks for reading this.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. Here is a link to one of many Youtube versions of my all time favorite organ piece.
In a quest, years ago, to find a sound system that could accurately reproduce this piece a few sub woofers and one set of expensive tweeters were destroyed by zealous sales persons that did not believe me when I told them the notes at the end (around 5:40)were in the 5-10 HZ range. You only get a hint of the thunderous bass on a computer sound system.
A word of caution near the 5:30 time on the the track the music becomes soft and high pitched. The piece just lulls you in to a quiet pleasant mood, then the thunder hits that actually ends the Toccata.
If you listen to it, I'm interested in what you thought about it.
Thanks again for commenting. Neal

I have a story featuring Elliot that is nearly done. I didn't have him near any malls and it's an increasingly rare sight to find a Hilton Piano or similar type store in a mall. But, you never know - wouldn't be the first time a reader's idea influenced a chapter.

Remember I suggested he might find fame and happiness on the web in an earlier correspondence. Here is Elliot playing Someone Like You. NO! Really it is Elliot. Elliot Spenner. He has a You Tube Channel.

I just discovered him the other day. You must have known of him for awhile. Small world.

I think Ryan found him during the writing of...'Hidden Talents'. He was looking for something that would sound good on the piano solo and came across Elliot's channel. Ryan surfed YouTube a lot. At any rate, he shared the link with me and I was inspired to create Elliot Lindley.

Hey guys. I just got around to reading this folder. I thought I'd comment on my recovery, since I mentioned it in the opening of this chain and ask a question.
I mostly fully recovered. No surgery. Lots of therapy though. My left arm is at 95% of previous. I only notice aches or pain at full range hand over head lifting/reaching positions and when I put my arm in that palm at your back reach for your wallet position. Hasn't slowed my spending though.
My grandson and I went into a Chicken Franchise (Cane’s) today for lunch. I was looking around while we ate and noticed a man with two boys a couple of booths over. I wish I could have discretely gotten a picture of them. The man was older with black groomed hair. The boys were both well-dressed preppie style. Both had well-groomed coal black hair, big blue eyes, flawless white skin, were nearly identical in appearance, and around 15 years old. The man was back to me and I never saw his face. I felt like I was near Judge Kirkwood and Jamie and Sean. Also,I did a double take the other day as a 20 something man and a very short very slender 13ish boy went by me in a Target store. Felt like Alex and Micah went by.
My Question;
Should cut back on rereading SS stories at bedtime?

Hah! I told Samuel I once saw Sean out at a theme park. It's neat once in a while to run into people that could be the ones we read about.

I saw another guy reminding me of Hamster (Austin) recently, and a guy who could have been Eliot-- except he was doing a really bangup job with a guitar.
