This book revolves around Nate Bird, who is black and his relationship with his best friend/girlfriend/best friend again, and the boy that complicates all that, Oliver James Hernandez, a best friend from childhood who moved away and had a hearing deficit. I liked this book partially because of it's quirky characters, though I think Nate needs a bit of a spine. I also liked that the characters included gay and bi representation, as well as the primary roles filled by persons of color (be they black or brown). The story is told from Nate's POV and is worth a read.
