For me, lately, there isn't much of anything to be happy about. Occasionally when my family gets together, I have a happy. Being with them and goofing with my nephews is a lift, but even that has to end and I go back to the dull, drab being I know all to well. I could go on for hours, but why torment you to my bitching? I'm trying to stay positive but even that is difficult.
What makes you happy? A look you get from someone? Something smaller that has big results?

Wow! If I say anything remotely close to this, in some circles there is a complete judge and jury of 'optimists' instantly assembled to condemn you for being negative.
I really don't like the notion that they can proclaim themselves to optimists, because when I look at them, their so called happiness is haughty arrogance based on nothing but facebook popularity and incessant pop culture references, which they use as particularly devastating assaults on any social issue or cultural/political icon in their path onto which they can project their rather cynical opinions into the social maelstrom.
My ultimate happy would be finding a group that matches these tight-knit interconnected little families that Dabeagle is so great at creating. To be one of the characters in TTU, SS, or even the older stories, like Begin Anew, where, more than anything else, it is just safe to be yourself, without judgement, actually be given a chance to develop some self confidence, with the constant strength and support of real friends and 'brothers' always there without question.

I have had in person and text conversations with Luggie and he's a tough one to buck up. I'm not talking just platitudes or something, I mean when he's bummed he's bummed. He's got some reasons to get bummed, I won't say he doesn't, but I'm not the one to blow sunshine up anyone's ass. I do try to be realistic, but if that doesn't work - I'm not a psychologist.
I'd like to have enough money to stay home all the time.

If it doesn't work, you can always crack jokes until they smile. That's a happy. You'll laugh and they'll smile.

What makes me happy?
I know a young guy in recovery getting his act together after kicking meth- he's been clean and doing well now for a couple of years. He just got his 12 year old kid back and they haven't been together much for many years. He's not making a ton of cash but they are together. To me, the young dad and son are both really sweet kids.
The grandparents are giving his son a PS4 but he didn't have any games.
I stepped up and got them the latest Madden NFL and NBA 2K14. It's something they can do together and I got a bigger kick out of doing it than any material thing I might get.
