So, as the story mentions, the character of Devyn Kennedy was created by Craftingmom over on Gay Authors. She wrote a story called 'All In' in which Devyn had a very, very rough life. In fact, I do highly recommend the story, however it's not for the faint of heart. I took some parts of her Devyn, with her permission, and wrote him into the Sanitaria universe. I borrowed his appearance, his name and his being mute. Devyn suffered quite a bit in his origin story, but my goal here was to give him a new lease on life in a town where he'd be loved. I know, he's a character and not a real person, but I get attached - don't you? All I could think of was this little blond guy who suffered so much in All In, I was glad Craftingmom recognized my neurosis and just let me run with it. Additionally I wanted to explore something she hadn't, which was the consequences for males after such a rape. Much of this is covered in my review of Alyssa Nutting's 'Tampa' but I wanted to portray some of those attitudes here and some of the resolution. You don't have to look very fr in the news to find instances of older females abusing younger males. Many think it does no damage, but it does - it fucks up a boy's mind.

I was looking for his guardian since his parents were killed. But then I thought, this was a story and you can do anything. Her stories are stunning. The only things for got from Devyn is that he can't speak, for obvious reasons which are totally different from the other story. And that he drives. I like it.

Well, I went with the stated, initial reason he was mute. The reality wasn't something I could do here, without some sort of extra explaining. I figured this was cleaner.

I think Devyn is a great character and I'm glad he'll be making another appearance in the weeks to come.

The contrast between how he deals with his speech problem - I think "seamlessly" works here in regards to how he incorporates working with it in his daily life - and how flummoxed and helpless he feels in the face of the teacher's sexual abuse makes for a very interesting dynamic. I agree, a very interesting character.

I appreciate the highlighting of male student abuse by female teachers.
Too many people are quick to laugh it off like Devyn's father and Uncles.
Those same people would be ready to hang a man for doing the same thing to a girl.
I'm sorry it had to end with a murder-suicide but those are the stakes that this game is played for.
Boys nor girls are emotionally equipped for relationships with adults.
The emotional problems that are caused are deep depression and very often suicide.

I really liked this story. I think more guys have mixed sexuality feelings than admit it.
I hope you can get more of the Sanitaria Springs stories from other authors here, eventually. I am glad Lugnutz has "Rainbow's End" over here now. I I am enjoying the stories from him that I have read so far.

Paul I only know of one person who is still working to bring an SS story here. I do not expect any of the others to come here, I haven't heard from any of those authors.

Me! I'm still working to figure out how to stuff it in without affecting the timeline.
That is a real trick in a collaborative universe.
I think I have it figured out- working a a draft to send you.

I found it very difficult to read certain parts. It's not because I really can relate to any of what was happening, but it is always just difficult to imagine situations like this.
I was also wondering at one point where it was going, and I couldn't help making a comparison between this and what happened recently on the AD site. Of course, this story was far different dealing with the notion of non-consensual activities, in particular as a result of the abuse of authority.
It's really scary to think of, and that's what made it difficult to read in some spots. I really like that Devyn was able to find a few good friends, and also kick his dad and uncles to the curb. In an ideal world, his mom should have had all of them arrested for abuse, too. It did seem like he was maybe moving a bit too fast on Elliot, but at least he realized that and it did end up working out the right way. But it in a real world situation, something like that could easily have gone very wrong, too.

In my mind, when we read stories like this other, there should be something there that makes us realize it wasn't okay - in case that was a question for anyone. Female educators have been caught in in creasing numbers having sex with underage boys and the damage that can happen to kids who have sex with adults is quite large. Also it tends to go under the idea that the male just 'got laid' and 'it's no big deal' for them. But it is.

A bit like Lugnutz, I have two SS stories on the go. I don't think they are stillborn but i am finding it hard work, so don't hold your breath.

This judge gets it. The teacher, an adult, had sex with a 15 year old boy. Basically we're talking adult with a child. One of the major points this Judge makes is that if it were a male teacher with a female student, there would be a far different conversation. But in this case, friends and family of the child were writing letters of support to the teacher. Adults and kids is just never, ever a good idea. Read it here, and see what you think of the judge's position.
