Dark Humor for this Friday.
Today I received a Jury Duty Summons for a friend who use to live at this address. He passed in July of 2014. I went to the County Site .... .gov/jury on the summons. After filling in the required information I got two questions.
1. Are you the person indicated on the summons? I clicked "NO". 2. Are you responding because that person is deceased? I clicked "YES".
Then the next form appeared. Here is an excerpt. In Block 1. He is disqualified because he is deceased. He is not required to appear. Block 2. Has his juror number and reporting details for where he is not required to go.
Gotta love government computerized systems.

At least there is a built in way to handle things like that. Be nice if Gov't ssytems could be integrated so that death certificates were shared, etc. Then there are too many cries about Gov't control. |

Without a doubt. I worked for the State of Illinois Department of Corrections for 29 years. My last four years I worked in supply, which was all done on computer utilizing Point Of Sale software. While we used the latest in Microsoft Windows software (we had just upgraded from 98 to XP when I retired in 2010), our Point Of Sale software was written by Western Illinois University students. Oh. What. Fun. |
